Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide (Diquat) REGLONE Syngenta

Description

Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Diquat @ 200g/L

Similar or comparable to Diquat Non-Residual Herbicide (Apparent)

Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide is for pre-harvest crop desiccation and the control of a wide range of broadleaf weeds in certain crops as per directions for use.  Reglone non-residual herbicide is also for use in aquatic areas to control weeds, including duck-weed, red azolla, water hyacinth, salvinia, marsilea, water lilies, water lettuce, cattail and pond-weed.

Reglone is an aqueous solution of diquat, a non-volatile herbicide with unique properties. It very quickly kills green growth with which it comes into contact and is particularly effective against broadleaf weeds. It is inactivated on contact with the soil, and crop roots and seeds below the soil remain unharmed. It can be safely applied around bushes and trees with no green bark. It is non-volatile, easily mixed with water and active at low concentrations.

Reglone can be used pre-planting and pre-crop emergence to control weeds in seed beds before sowing or post-sowing pre-crop emergence.  It should be applied as a blanket spray using boom spray equipment or knapsack sprayers.

Where can Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide be used for general weed control;

Aquatic Areas Market Gardens Row Crops
Asparagus Oats Vegetables
Hops Oil Seed Poppies Vineyards
Infested Areas Orchards Wheat
Lucerne Pasture Renovation Winter Cereals

What weeds does Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide target for general weeds control;

Annual Broadleaf Weeds Cotton Thistle Salvinia
Annual Grass Weeds Duck Weeds Silver Grass
Barley Grass Erodium spp. Sweet Vernal Grass
Broadleaf Weeds Marsilea Water Hyacinth
Brome Grass Pond Weeds Water Lettuce
Capeweed Red Azolla Water Lilies
Cattail Saffron Thistle Wild Radish (Suppression)

Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide not only provides an efficient and reliable means of preparing a crop for harvest in potatoes, but desiccation with reglone will also contribute to good tuber uniformity, skin set and storage. Reglone acts rapidly on the green parts of all plants and is locally systemic.  For best results, an even and complete coverage with good penetration of the spray into the target foliage is necessary. Applications made in dull weather or at the end of the day will help to maximise the performance of reglone resulting in the green parts of most plant crops and weeds being completely desiccated within a few days of spraying.

Diquat is a contact herbicide that produces desiccation and defoliation.  Diquat is a nonselective herbicide that acts quickly to damage only those parts of the plant to which it is applied.

    Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide is a non-selective herbicide and is only recommended for use in pastures immediately before renovation. It will negatively impact your current pasture, but as it does not have any residual effects beyond the plant back period, pasture can be re-sown into the area via direct drill 3 to 7 days after spraying. If you want to retain your current pasture of native grass, clover & ryegrass, Reglone is not recommended.

    Answered by the admin

    Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide has no listed withhold periods (WHP) regarding stock accessing drinking water. If possible, the best practice is to remove the livestock from the applied area for a 24-48-hour window after spraying. If any further clarification is required, please contact the manufacturer (Syngenta Australia) at 1800 022 035.

    The APVMA-approved label for Reglone Non-Residual Herbicide, advises that Reglone contains no wetting agent, and a non-ionic wetting agent must be added to the spray mixture unless otherwise specified. To the best of our knowledge, the label does not specify not to use a wetting agent when desecrating potatoes. You can speak with the manufacturer, Syngenta, at 1800 022 035 for further clarification.

    Reglone is not registered to control Sicklepod.  Paraquat & Diquat (i.e. Sprayseed) is registered for this purpose in Sugarcane, not Diquat (Reglone) on its own.  Some of the recommended herbicides for Sicklepod control include Grazon Extra, Tordon 75-D (i.e. Depic, Ramjet & Pulverize) & Lantana DP 600.

  13. Q Can I roast and eat sunflowers that have been sprayed with reglone?.
    Asked by Harry a froese on October 4, 2021 7:29 am
    Answered by the admin

    Reglone is registered for use on Sunflowers for pre-harvest crop desiccation of the crop.

    You must follow the WHP (Withholding Period Details) for Reglone that advise do not harvest for 4 days after application.  There are also critical comments for application of Reglone on Sunflowers to only spray when the seed is mature, seed moisture 35% and below, kernel full and firm, the disc spongy when broken, florets loose and bracts browning off. Harvesting can commence as soon as vegetative parts of the crop are desiccated, usually 7 to 14 days after spraying.

    Providing you follow these guidelines you should be fine to use the sunflower seed as you see fit.  If you require further clarification you can also speak with the manufacturer, Syngenta Australia on 1800 022 035.
